Rukmini Arangam, Kalakshetra foundation

Image
I have come to Chennai once again, and I decided to not miss out sketching. I have not sketched many live concerts. I have only sketched Dushyanth Sridhar  at Dharma Paripalana Sabha in adayar. This time I had an event at Kalakshetra foundation in Thiruvanmiyur. It was a Carnatic music concert (Katcheri) which was performed by Trichur V. Ramachandran . I have sketched this concert but I had short time so I completed the sketches at home. This was the first sketch. They seem very far but I have sketched two more subjects. The Mridangam Player was calmly composed in the music, so it sounded sweet. I decided to sketch these two subjects all by pen, because I had only 3 minutes.

Velachery Railway station

Image
As I said yesterday, I went by MRTS train from Velachery to Mandaveli station on the Chennai beach rail. I was in Velachery actually because I went to Phoenix Marketcity, about 3kms from the station. I only went and ate some potato wedges and went shopping for clothes at Lifestyle. I then walked to a Auto Rickshaw or Auto, and went to the station eventually travelling home. Since I couldn't sketch the train on spot, I took a picture for sketching ot at home. It wasn't possible that day as I already sketched Ramakrishna math. So, with the picture I took yesterday, I made a quick sketch of the station as I am already leaving back to Krishnagiri again. These sketches stand as memory of the cultural streets of Chennai at Krishnagiri. This is what I have sketched, I couldn't make the picture bright enough because of the graphics. The next time I come to Chennai, I will definitely post on both of my blogs. Thank you!

Ramakrishna Math and the Old temple

Image
Today I was thinking on what to sketch at Mylapore. After a big meal I decided to sketch at Ramakrishna math along with the Saradha Devi sannidhi. So, I brought my essentials to the two places. I gave a quick border pencil sketch at both places, and finished it with a pen outline at home peacefully. As it was closing time, I only took about 10-15 mins to sketch both. I also travelled by the MRTS station, so I was already drained. The picture above is my sketch of Ramakrishna universal temple built in 2000 at Mylapore. It is an urban sketch. The picture above is my sketch of the Saradha Devi temple which was built in 1917 and is the oldest surviving building in Ramkrishna math.

My grandmother's house

I travelled to Mandaveli from Krishnagiri  and decided to bring my A5 sketchbook with a pen and pencil. I was thinking on what to draw and the answer was right in front of me. There was a huge tree along with a scooter, the perfect sight to sketch. I made a quick pencil sketch and pen outline of it. It was outside the house ofy grandmother, which is pretty close to Mylapore . I am currently planning to sketch more and bring my sketchbook with me wherever I go. I should really unbend my sketchbook. The picture got messed up because of it.
